Easy fit maintenance free Split Cane screens!

This lightweight but durable split cane screen brings you the appearance of bamboo without its weight. Bamboo poles of approx 30-40 mm, 1-1 1/4 inches in diameter are split lengthways several times and dried flat to create slats that are approx 3/4 inch, 20-25 mm wide. These slats are then assembled into a roll of screen that is held together by external galvanised wires. The end result is a rustic looking bamboo screen.

The colouration of these screens can be anything from blond to olive across the length of the screen.

The Split Cane will last for up to six years maintenance free out of doors in most parts of the UK if it is fixed correctly. Indoors it will last indefinitely.

As with all bamboo these screens will fade over time but how this occurs is dependant on location and exposure to sunlight. There is little point in trying to prevent it as even spraying with yacht varnish or similar outdoor varnish only slows the process. Its better to look on it as part of the natural process of change that goes on in our lives and our gardens.

The split Cane is available in 4 m, 13 ft long rolls that are either  1 m, 3 ft 3 inches, 1.5 m , 4 ft 11 inches or 2 m 6 ft 6 inches wide.
